Established in 2007, Stonekeep is Pennsylvania's first dedicated Meadery. Our Mead products include Traditional Mead, Melomels, and Metheglyns. In 2013, we expanded our line to include 4 varieties of Grape Wines. We now have more than a dozen varieties of Grape Wines. Our Traditional Mead recipe is from 1376 England using Pennsylvania wild flower honey, water, and yeast. You will find our mead is not as sweet as a lot of modern style meads or Irish Mead.
In 1376, the bee-hive had to be destroyed to harvest the honey. So they used less to ferment into mead. In addition to our traditional all-honey recipe, we also incorporate fruits and herbs, some traditional, some not-so-traditional, with the honey to make melomels and metheglyns respectively. We do not add grapes, grain, or sugar to any of our meads.Stonekeep Meadery and Wine Cellars is owned and operated by Sheree Krasley and Marc Johnson. Marc is also the Vintner with over 25 years of experience. We take great pride in the quality of our meads and wines.
